Programmer Analyst
Job Description:
Degree/Education: BS Computer Science, Information Systems
Specialized Experience:
8 Years relevant experience. Broad experience in requirements analysis and computer systems design, development and implementation, including real-time data acquisition and processing, data communications and scientific/business applications. Must be experienced in database systems and familiar with open systems hardware and software. Experience using standard programming methods and secure coding techniques. Specific experience in C++, Java and LAMP (Linux, Apache MySQL and PHP) and Oracle.
Configuration Management Specialist
Job Description:
This is a position in the engineering department
of the National Data Buoy Center. The
configuration management specialist supports the department which consists of
Ocean/Mechanical, Electronic, Software and System Engineers, electronics
technicians, a drafting team, a technical writer, and a government oversight
configuration management group that uses Autodesk Vault as its document control
and configuration management software. Specialist is responsible for engineering
change control, which includes release of updates, revisions, and new drawings,
procedures, test plans and variances.
This includes preparation for the Engineering Review Board which
approves changes, and sending out announcements for new versions of drawings
and documents once they are approved.
Minimum Qualifications/Skills:
- BS in Business or Industrial
Management or equivalent combination of experience and degree
- 8 years experience in
configuration management administration practices and use of computer-aided
tracking systems.
- Knowledge of technical data repository
systems and failure data tracking methods.
Knowledge
of drafting principals, techniques and procedures.
- Ability work within Windows XP/7
operating system environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
products - Word, Excel, Outlook
- Experience with file sharing,
document management, collaboration tools like AutoDesk Vault.
- Familiarity with Inventor,
Solidworks, Pro-E, or other such modeling tools desired, not required
- Ability to visualize parts and
assemblies in 3D.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14
standards and ISO-9001 requirements a plus.

Data Analyst I
Job Description:
Degree/Education: MS Meteorology, Oceanography, or Physical
Sciences
Specialized
Experience:
2 years experience in analyzing meteorological and oceanographic
observations (e.g. winds, atmospheric pressure, temperatures) in the marine
environment and identifying observational errors of all types.
Familiarity of operating characteristics of automated monitoring systems and
the ability to recognize systems performance anomalies.
Database Administrator
Job Description:
- Develops high performance relational databases to store service delivery, transaction and billing data.
- Collaborates
with development team on the design and implementation of database
services, data stores, stored procedures, and replication.
- Manages
the design and implementation of security and data access methods to
ensure services are properly controlled, monitored and audited.
- Develops
and implements maintenance and administration procedures for database
systems including the usage of metrics to ensure optimal performance.
- Proactively monitors database system status to determine early warning signs of issues.
- Establishes summarized and scalable data schema to deliver high performance historical reporting and near-real-time data feeds.
- Authors, documents, and maintains scripts to perform various aspects of data management and system administration.
- Creates, documents, and maintains data schema and data dictionaries.
- Ensures that backups are performed regularly on all databases.
- Evaluates
new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to scale our data
infrastructure for future customer growth and new products.

- Must have strong knowledge of data relationships, normalization and summarization.

- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

IT Security Analyst
Job Description:
- Provides analysis, design and support for
firewalls, routers, networks and operating systems.
- Performs vulnerability scans using vendor
utility tools.
- Monitors security audit and intrusion detection
system logs for system and network anomalies.
- Monitors user access process to ensure
operational integrity of the system. Enforces the information security
configuration and maintains system for issuing, protecting, changing and
revoking passwords.
- Develops technical and programmatic assessments,
evaluates initiatives and provides technical support to assess security
policies, standards and guidelines.
- Implements, enforces and communicates security
policies and/or plans for data, software applications, hardware and telecommunications.
- Performs product evaluations, recommends and
implements products/services for network security.
- Validates and tests security architecture and
design solutions to produce detailed specifications with recommended vendor
technologies.
- Develops, tests and operates firewalls,
intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus systems and software
deployment tools.
- Reviews and recommends the installation,
modification or replacement of hardware or software components and any
configuration change(s) that affects security.
- Provides enforcement of security directives,
orders, standards, plans and procedures at server sites. Ensures system support
personnel receive/maintain security awareness and training.
- Maintains data and communicates to management the
impact on business/customer caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial
of access to information.
- Conduct Vulnerability Assessments and perform
Penetration Testing analysis in support of the program.
- Assist in the implementation of security measures
based on appropriate principles, theories, methods, and techniques.
- Ensure solutions exhibit high levels of
performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reusability.
- Support the operations staff with analysis and
response to security incidents.
- Monitor security systems to ensure they are
operating according to contractual service level agreements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge &
Skills:
- Knowledge and skill in Vulnerability
Assessments, Penetration Testing, installing and maintaining IDS/IPS.
- Knowledge of NIST and USGCB.
- Knowledge of operating system, application,
network, and database security architectures.
- Independent problem-solving skills; good written
and oral communication and interpersonal skills with internal and external
customers.
- Ability to maintain integrity and
confidentiality with access to all information on the network.
- Prefer knowledge of McAfee, Symantec, Arcsight,
TippingPoint IPS, Bluecoat ProxySG, and Cisco ASA products.
- Must be
flexible and willing to support a 24 x 7 environment.
Experience &
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology, or associated discipline.
- Minimum seven (4) years of experience in
information technology with at least three (2) years in security administration.
- Prefer CEH or GPEN certification.
- Prefer CISSP.
