NVision Hosting Joint Agency Commercial Imagery Evaluation Workshop

January 29, 2010 - Fairfax, Va.

NVision will host the Civil Commercial Imagery Evaluation Workshop March 16-18, 2010 at the Marriott Fairfax at Fair Oaks, Fairfax, Virginia.   The intent of the workshop is to exchange information regarding the characterization and application of commercial imagery used by the government. This workshop is designed to cover all civil medium and high resolution commercial imagery used by the Government.   This workshop is sponsored by the Joint Agency Commercial Imagery Evaluation (JACIE) team, a collaborative group of representatives from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Individuals involved in commercial imagery characterization, science, and applications research, as well as people interested in the management and effectiveness of government-sponsored data purchase programs are invited to attend and participate.  The workshop is intended for government personnel and government-funded researchers and contractors.  Representatives from industry, working with the associated datasets and applications, will also participate.

Attendees can participate by making an oral presentation during one of the workshop sessions, or by presenting via a poster session, or by being present and interacting at the workshop.   Attendees wishing to present the use of high spatial resolution commercial satellite imagery, medium resolution commercial satellite imagery, or commercial aerial digital imagery in their science or applications research are invited to Submit an Abstract as discussed no later than Monday, December 14, 2009.   Abstracts will be reviewed by the JACIE team sometime in January 2010, and results of the abstract review will be e-mailed to the submitter.  Because a large number of abstracts are received, the review team may suggest that presentations be presented as posters; therefore, specify in your abstract whether you can support an oral presentation, a poster presentation, or both.

Who Attends

How to Participate

The conference will feature the following sessions.

Government Session:

This session includes updates and overviews of commercial remote sensing activities within the Government.  This session includes a key note address speaker plus speakers from USGS, NASA, NGA, NOAA, DHS, and USDA as well as other speakers.

Industry Overview Session:

This session includes updates and overviews of commercial remote sensing activities within the industry.  This session will include briefings from commercial industry companies, such as DigitalGlobe and GeoEye.

High Resolution Satellite Characterization and Applications Session:

This session includes results of geopositional accuracy, image quality, radiometric accuracy assessments, and associated applications of high spatial resolution satellites.

Medium Resolution Satellite Characterization and Applications Session:

This session includes results of geopositional accuracy, image quality, radiometric accuracy assessments, and associated applications of medium spatial resolution satellites.

Aerial Digital Imagery Characterization and Applications Session:

This session includes results of geopositional accuracy, image quality, radiometric accuracy assessments, and associated applications of airborne imaging systems.

Posters will be displayed throughout the workshop to highlight commercial remote sensing data characterization, science, and applications work.

Proceedings:

An electronic version of workshop proceedings will be compiled following the workshop.  The proceedings will be distributed on compact disc to each workshop attendee.  All speakers are asked to provide electronic versions of their presentations and posters for inclusion in the proceedings.  Electronic copies will be collected during the workshop.
