July 22, 2005 - Stennis Space Center
GeoJournal allows you to record map points and routes nationwide
GeoJournal turns your photos into a slideshow.
BirdVision lets wildlife enthusiasts and professionals record every detail of sightings and link those details to a place on a map.
NVision Solutions, Inc., a leader in the integration of geospatial technology, is proud to announce the development and release of two new products, GeoJournal and BirdVision. Slated for release on July 25, 2005, the two products look to bring the combined use of imagery and geographic information systems (GIS) to the households of photo enthusiasts, bird watchers, and travelers everywhere.
Both products, GeoJournal and BirdVision, provide an affordable, easy-to-use interface that makes using an image database with GIS functionality an easier proposition. They provide maps for easy visual referencing of locations where images were taken. Both products provide a system simple enough for the novice GIS user while still providing enough functionality for the advanced user. By using global positioning systems (GPS) or latitude-longitude information, more accurate location data can be attached to the images. While they provide similar functionality, they still differ in their usage.
GeoJournal,
http://www.geo-journal.com, is aimed at photo enthusiasts and travelers of all types. The program provides the ability to store images and travel logs according to date or location. This makes storage and organization of this information a breeze. No longer will you have to incorporate dates or locations into the pictures' names in an attempt to organize them. The storage and organization provided by GeoJournal allow you to group and view your pictures by location and/or time. Using GeoJournal, trips can be planned using the built-in map functions. This map functionality also provides a visual reference for where the pictures were taken.
BirdVision,
http://www.birdvision.com, is focused on incorporating bird watching with GIS features. Not only will bird watchers be able to take pictures of birds, but they can also organize them by location, providing more functionality than a simple set of images ever could. Using similar technology to GeoJournal, BirdVision allows you to place reference points on a map and view information on the birds found in that location. This feature allows a bird watcher, park ranger, or ornithologist to track the movement of certain species of birds or to log habitats where these birds can be found.
Both GeoJournal and BirdVision are Windows 2000 and XP compatible and were developed using Microsoft Visual Basic 6. Another Microsoft product used to provide functionality in both applications is the Microsoft Calendar object. GeoJournal also utilizes Microsoft Access as well for its database features.
