NASA Selects NVision Solutions Innovative Small Business Project
October 7, 2003 - Stennis Space Center
NASA selected NVision's research project as one of 145 proposals for negotiation of Phase 2 contract awards for NASA's 2002 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. The selected projects, which have a total value of approximately $86.5 million, will be conducted by 119 small, high-technology firms located in 29 states. NVision, which maintains offices in Miss. and Lou. is the only company selected from either state.
The goals of this NASA program are to stimulate technological innovation, increase the use of small business -- including women-owned and disadvantaged firms like NVision -- in meeting Federal research and development needs, and increase private-sector commercialization of innovations derived from federally funded research.
NASA selected NVision from among 251 proposals submitted by SBIR contractors completing Phase 1 projects. NASA evaluated these proposals to determine that they met SBIR Phase 1 objectives and are feasible research innovations for meeting agency needs.
Phase 2 continues development of the most promising Phase 1 projects. Selection criteria include NVision's technical merit and innovation, Phase 1 results, value to NASA, commercial potential and NVision's capabilities. NVision's funding for a Phase 2 contract could be up to $600,000 for a two-year performance period.
NVision's project will create an online remote sensing product allowing users to perform simple to advanced remote sensing operations on remotely stored data and then download the derivative products. The full abstract for the project is available online at:

The NASA SBIR/STTR Program Manager is located at the Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, with executive oversight by NASA's Office of Aerospace Technology, NASA Headquarters, Washington DC. Individual SBIR and STTR projects are managed by NASA's ten field installations including the NASA Stennis Space Center in Miss.
