NVision Solutions Wins Department of Commerce Award
August 17, 2011 - Atlanta, GA
NVision Solutions, Inc. - Minorty Global Technology Firm of the Year, Southeast Region 2011
The US Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency named NVision as the "Minority Global Technology Firm of the Year" last week at the Southeast Region 2011 Minority Enterprise Development Week summit in Atlanta.
The evaluation criteria for the award included technological innovation, revenue and jobs created, challenges overcome, and overall contributions to society. NVision received the recognition for technology innovations including the Real-Time Emergency Action Coordination Tool (REACT) and the NVTouch surface computer. REACT is used by first-responders nationwide to prepare for and recover from disasters.
NVision's REACT system is used agency-wide by NASA, the Mississippi Department of Homeland Security Fusion Center, the US Naval Post-Graduate School Center for Asymmetric Warfare, the Mississippi National Guard, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security, and local emergency operations centers along the Gulf Coast. Mississippi agencies used REACT for Hurricanes Gustav and Ike as well as the Deepwater Horizon Oil Disaster.
NVision's other leading innovative technology is the NVTouch Surface Computer. The NVTouch is a multi-user, multi-touch computer table with a 42-inch touch screen. The NVTouch allows decisions makers to interact with information in a more intuitive way by using touch to move objects such as photos around on a screen. NVision also recently released a collapsible version for use in the field.
The event and award were also sponsored by the Atlanta National Enterprise Center and the Minority Enterprise Development Week Public-Private Sector Council at the Georgia Power Company Auditorium.
